RICHARD CALLIN

Mist

drifts down
evaporates as it hits the street
falls over steps  wires
birds rustling along the parapet

a man cold-sweats into the sheets
all night
a cat purrs against his thigh

the days  a chain of waiting
for the body to let go
for the last thought to arrive

in the next room
fish glide through an aquarium's blue light
